Early years spent wrist-deep in ham at a pizza joint were influential on Charlie’s later writing, in particular the dystopian leanings, preoccupation with death and desire to GTF off this planet. Charlie also credits a dark sense of humour to this time in fast food. Nothing gets you through a late night shift when you’re half-expecting to get shot in the face like a handful of soggy tomato down the back of your shirt.
